Project Context
The Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre was developed at Pailles as Mauritius's first purpose-built international convention centre and a flexible venue for conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, concerts, receptions and major public events. The approximately 14,500 m² development combined a large plenary hall with conference and meeting rooms, an atrium and banquet space, business and press facilities, catering infrastructure and extensive supporting services.
The central plenary hall provides approximately 3,500 m² of flexible event space and accommodates major seated or standing audiences. The wider development includes a 700-cover kitchen, ICT and fibre-optic infrastructure, simultaneous-interpretation facilities, standby power, lifts, parking, landscaped external works and wastewater-treatment facilities.
Our Contribution
Chuttur and Partners Ltd provided full project management and quantity surveying services from project inception through tendering, construction, commissioning and final handover. CP Ltd led project planning, cost management, tender documentation and evaluation, procurement support, professional-team coordination, programme control, commercial administration and delivery oversight.
The assignment required the design, construction, fit-out and building-services workstreams to be coordinated within a twelve-month fast-track programme. CP Ltd maintained control of programme, cost, quality, contractual matters and operational readiness so the venue could be completed and brought into use for a fixed international-event deadline.

Project Significance
Mauritius's first international convention centre, delivered on a fast-track programme for the January 2005 United Nations SIDS meeting.
The venue was operational for the United Nations International Meeting to Review the Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States, held from 10 to 14 January 2005. The meeting brought together nearly 2,000 delegates from 114 countries, including presidents, vice-presidents, prime ministers, ministers and United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
SVICC established a major national venue for international conferences, government events, exhibitions and entertainment in Mauritius. For CP Ltd, the project remains an important fast-track public-building reference, demonstrating integrated project management and quantity surveying across a technically complex, high-capacity development with a fixed operational deadline. CP Ltd received formal client appreciation following completion.
