Project Context
Metro Express is one of Mauritius's most significant transport infrastructure projects, connecting Port Louis and Curepipe as part of the country's public transport modernisation programme. Delivery across a live urban corridor required close management of rail, road, utility, traffic, stakeholder and public interfaces.
The project is a flagship CP Ltd reference in Utility / Roads and Rail. It demonstrates the firm's ability to help an international contractor navigate the Mauritian construction market while maintaining disciplined procurement, commercial and technical controls.
Our Contribution
Chuttur and Partners Ltd supported Larsen & Toubro Limited from tender-stage market entry through selected construction and handover activities. CP Ltd helped the contractor understand local market conditions, identify capable suppliers and specialist contractors, validate rates and coordinate local interfaces relevant to pricing, mobilisation and delivery.
Following award, CP Ltd provided local support for mobilisation, authority liaison, registration and permitting, commercial and quantity surveying matters, and technical assurance for as-built documentation and phased handover. Metro Express restored passenger rail transport to Mauritius and established the country's first modern light-rail system as part of a pioneering multimodal transport network. Government reporting has recorded average daily ridership of approximately 45,000, demonstrating the system's importance to everyday mobility across the main urban corridor.
